  • @mafia1245 That’s one thing I hate about browsers now-a-days. Too resource intensive for my liking. in reply to mafia1245 #
  • @USuMBS It’s alright, there’s some cool stuff on there besides ILR stuff. CU is really pushing CornellCast over iTunes U though. in reply to USuMBS #

Facebook Haters

So Facebook finally went live with it’s latest design and as expected, the backlash began right away. Search Facebook Groups for “new Facebook” and you’ll see results such as “I HATE THE NEW FACEBOOK (STALKER) Layout” or “The New Facebook Sucks!” or “I Hate the New Facebook”. Looking at most of these groups, it is clear that these people are misunderstanding what Facebook is meant to be.

The new face of Facebook

Everyone’s favorite procrastination tool is due for it’s 2nd major makeover. I’ve been playing with the new version for a little while now and evidence of other social networking sites have made their way into Facebook’s new design. The look and feel is mostly the same; the single largest change is the merging of the newsfeed with the wall reminiscent of Twitter or Pownce. You’ll also notice the ability to clean up your profile by using tabs to organize all your content; applications no longer dominate the page. With these changes, emphasis is being put more on social interaction. While I like the direction Facebook is taking, most Facebook users will probably immediately oppose the change espescially given the fact that the Twitter-like concept of the new Facebook is still largely unfamiliar to most people. I fully expect hundreds of “Petition to change Facebook back to the way it was” groups to pop up.

A few end-of-the-year notes

Life has been pretty busy since spring break ended. I haven’t really had time to post lately but that doesn’t mean nothing has been going on.

  • Today marked the last official day of classes. However, the annual Slope Day festivities were cut short for me due to the track meet tomorrow, and at least partially to the cold rain. I’m at least a little bit bummed out about that.
  • School is tough. So is track. Both of them together? I don’t know how I manage (if you can call it that).
  • I still don’t know how I am getting home. The longer I wait the more of a problem this will be come. Lacking transportation home has been a reoccurring theme this year.
  • CollegeHumor original videos are absolutely great.
  • I have 8 months until I start competing for the next track season. I don’t know if I can make it that long.
  • I got the shaft in CoursEnroll for next semester. I guess that’s what I get for having my first two CoursEnroll experiences go so smoothly.
  • Updating Twitter is a lot easier than doing this.

So I guess my goals for the next couple weeks is to make it out of here alive. Between final papers, finals, and trying to redeem my first track season with a good time in the very last meet, I haven’t gotten much sleep. I suppose sleep should go on that list of goals too. Because I failed to line up anything for me to do this summer, that leaves me asking what everyone else is doing this summer.  I’ll be interested to know who’s around until next semester starts.
