Screaming like a girl

Last night I went and saw The Descent, and have come to terms with the fact that I suck at watching scary movies.Official movie poster Despite the movie following the S.O.P of any horror/thriller movie, I still found myself with my face buried in my hands at certain times. i still jumped despite music cues and other obvious signs of death and gore lurking around the corner. The movie follows a group of six adventure seeking girlfriends who go on a spelunking trip to help one of the girls regain her confidence a year after her husband and daughter were killed in a car accident. The cave they explore is uncharted and one of the girl’s (named Juno) ego complicates their exit from the subterranean maze where they encounter a band of Gollum-look-alike creatures which proceed to devour the majority of the girls. The film is filled with estrogen charged girly arguments and the weak script made it difficult to watch at times (although the film got good reviews). It was funny to watch the girls get pissed off and fight the creatures off. In the end, I’ve decided that European movies do not compare with the ridiculousness of American films, and that although I am quite ashamed of admitting it, I was screaming like a little girl (on the inside)during this movie…but we’ll keep that between you and me.

In the mean time, I’ll stick to movies I can handle like Talladega Nights and The Lion King. And despite the fact that I am the candy-less kid relative to the movie theatre, I still have a few movies to see.

P.S. Props to Annie for worst case of post-scary-movie jitters and hitting a pillar in the parking structure:!:

I survived…just barely

After a hiatus from updates, I finally return. Did you miss me? Well, quite a lot has been going on since my last post, the most important being, school’s over. But we’ll get to that later. So begins my series of anecdotes describing quite possibly the most annoying/difficult week of my life; the week from Hell.

Mimi is the most amazing person ever. I don’t think I’d be able to live without her.

Summer

So Rob, Sneha, Miesque and I stopped by the St. Mary’s fair last night, and we were told we were too old to go on the Berry-Go-Round. It made me sad. On the other side of things, summer officially begins in 10 days. I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself…but i’ll worry about it then. Track states is comming up June 3rd and if I replicate my Counties performnce we should be in good shape to win it all. Before I go, i’d like to point out that I ran a 10.8 100M dash time in the semi-finals; 0.1 seconds off the school record, until Chris broke it with a 10.42. Thanks Chris. In the mean time, I hearby claim myself (unofficially) the fastest Asian in the state of Michigan. We’ll see how well that plays out at states. G’night everyone.
