Facebook is SO 2006

For a while now, I’ve been hearing and seeing a lot about Twitter in the blogosphere and the internet community in general. I didn’t have a sense of what it was aside from something involving text messaging (SMS – short messaging service). Seeing as my SMS on my prior cell plan was disabled, I never looked into it. Now as a new subscriber to an unlimited SMS plan as well as my never ending quest for distractions, I decided to take Twitter for a spin. The first question that people are quick to ask is: “What is Twitter?” The answer is slightly more complicated, but someone at some point coined the term “micro-blogging” to describe Twitter. and Cats.In general, it’s a different perspective on social networking that we have grown accustomed to with MySpace, Facebook, Friendster and the likes. The general premise is that there are lot of little things we see, hear or do throughout the day that our friends may be interested in, but we wouldn’t necessarily send an email or IM to announce. That’s where Twitter comes in. You submit a 140 character “tweet” via the Twitter website, IM or SMS where your message is then posted and sent to your friends (via SMS if the setting is turned on). Wordpress Upgrade

Just finished upgrading Wordpress to version 2.5. Probably won’t be too much of a difference around here but I thought I’d mention it. Anyone who is planning on doing any sort of blogging or setting up a website, I strongly recommend checking out Wordpress as a platform to build upon. I can’t say enough good things about it, and neither can anyone else.

On an unrelated note, what’s with all the snow lately? It’s supposed to be spring.

Tarantula > Mouse

My roommate, Max decided to buy a pet tarantula. I am terribly afraid of spiders (or anything with more than four legs or two eyes). Due to the fact that Max’s mother’s and I both share extreme cases of arachnophobia, the pet spider, Zeus, was to remain in the dorm for the duration of spring break. In an effort to ensure its survival, we Zeus a pre-break feast. The video is incredibly cool despite my fear. Continue reading ‘Tarantula > Mouse’

90’s Music

I love 90’s music, plain and simple. Every time I hear a tune from the 90’s, the nostalgic feeling takes me back to a happier time when I wasn’t bothered by schoolwork, and everyone played with Yo-yo’s, Tamogatchis, and Razor scooters.

In honor of the era in which I spent my youthful days, I (rather haistily) compiled a 50-song playlist of songs of the 90’s available here for your viewing pleasure.

For everyone’s sanity, I (for the time being) left of the likes of The Backstreet Boys and N*Sync because it was too hard for me to choose, but if I’m missing anything else, or have any ideas, let me know!

Where’s Waldo?

Two posts in one day? That’s almost unheard of! This is the last webjunk for awhile, I promise. I just found this particularly amusing.

The Waldo Ultimatum – Watch more free videos

Personally, asking the question “Where’s Waldo” is a lot cooler than “Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?” I miss the ’90s.

I must have one!

This is great; yet another way of distracting people in class.

I’ve seen this before, just not on this scale. Other in class shenanigans:

That’s the short list because most of the other things I could thing of (firecrackers, ferrets) would probably be bad news. Any other ideas?
